THE VISION

We are overjoyed to not only to have been featured by Martha Stewart Weddings, but that it was our very own Elizabeth's wedding to her husband Kendall!

If you know Elizabeth, you know she enjoys hostessing and especially loves Christmas...she wanted their wedding to feel as if guests were attending a holiday party at the home she and Kendall share. As an event designer inspired by home interiors, there was an emphasis on making the event feel cozy and inviting, incorporating multicolor lights, vintage pieces, and other nostalgic details that reflected her personal style.

You can read the full feature on Martha Stewart Weddings, or order a Christmas 2022 edition of Entertain and Celebrate Magazine, where their wedding was also featured in print.

THE DETAILS

The vision was a cheerful, Dorothy Draper and vintage holiday-inspired evening with vibrant colors, whimsical patterns, lots of Christmas lights, and a festive use of red and pink colorblocking.

The guests’ candle drip protectors for the unity candle ceremony were printed in alternating designs - one the used the pattern from the invitation envelope liner, inspired by the carpet in the Trellis Lobby at the Greenbrier Hotel, the other which incorporated a Christmas song lyric that felt appropriate after the pandemic and not having seen a lot of their family and friends for 2+ years (“Faithful friends that are dear to us, gather near to us once more.”)

The cake was a work of art, with traditional piping and vintage motifs. The tiers between the piping had an iridescent glitter glaze whileShiny Brite ornaments, velvet ribbons, and tinsel were added between the tiers. An actual pink ruffle tree skirt (by Glitterville) was placed around the pedestal stand.

Table numbers continued the festive details, using apothecary jars filled with vintage ornaments.

Elizabeth and Kendall honored their families and ancestral traditions throughout their day, including a passing of the flame for their unity candle ceremony while the UNC Black Gospel Choir sang "This Little Light of Mine."

We are so excited for Elizabeth and Kendall to begin newlywed life and to see her Christmas wedding dreams come to life throughout this memorable, personal, and special day. Our team had the best time celebrating these two and the close of another wonderful year for Elizabeth Flake Events!
